Japanese Sakura Graffiti Mural Painted in Poland

Some projects are less about loud characters or high-energy street visuals, and more about flow, balance and emotion. This piece a large-scale cherry blossom mural painted across the entire side of a house in Poland, was one of those projects.

There’s something deeply calming about cherry blossoms, maybe it’s the symbolism, maybe it’s the colour, maybe it’s just the reminder that beauty can be fleeting but powerful. This house-sized mural in Poland was my own take on that idea: a freestyle, Japanese-inspired sakura street art mural, blasted large across a 5-metre-high exterior wall.

The client wanted a Japanese-inspired sakura mural, something peaceful, elegant and uplifting. I was given complete creative freedom to interpret the theme in my own way, which is always a treat. The result is a stylised cherry blossom tree, painted entirely freehand using spray paint only, no stencils, just flow.

Polish Wall, Japanese Soul

The mural stands in quiet contrast to the Polish surroundings, a bold bloom rooted in Japanese tradition but reborn through spray paint. It’s not a replica of any specific tree, nor is it a copy-paste of ukiyo-e design. It’s an urban interpretation of sakura, shaped by years of street painting, late-night missions, and a general love of colour and culture.

The client was genuinely happy with the final result, and so was I. There’s nothing better than walking away from a wall knowing it brought something new to the space and smiles to the people who see it every day.

The Client’s Vision & How the Commission Came About

Although the client is based in Poland, they’ve always felt a strong personal connection with Japanese culture, especially the timeless beauty of sakura (cherry blossoms). After fulfilling a long-held dream of visiting Japan during the cherry blossom season, they returned home wanting something lasting to commemorate the experience. As an art enthusiast with a blank wall on their property, this became the perfect fusion of passion and opportunity: they wanted a custom-painted cherry blossom mural on the exterior of their home.

As a private commission, I won’t disclose any personal details out of respect for the client’s privacy, but I can say they were one of the most enthusiastic and supportive patrons I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

They found me through one of my mural process videos, a time-lapse of a cherry blossom mural I painted in Thailand, which has racked up close to half a million views online. My past work includes sakura-themed murals for Japanese restaurants as well as stylised cherry blossom murals in office interiors, where the natural, organic feel helps soften and uplift otherwise bland workspaces. The client appreciated both my technique and my unique stylistic interpretation of cherry blossom trees, and they gave me full creative freedom to approach the project in my own way.

Despite being completed in a single day, the mural has an undeniable presence. The wall itself is house-sized, approximately 6 metres tall and 6 metres wide, making it visible from around the neighbourhood. The vibrant pink and red hues of the blossoms contrast beautifully against the greenery of the surrounding suburban landscape. And yet, because it depicts a natural figure, a tree, the mural doesn’t feel out of place. It catches the eye, but in a way that feels balanced and serene.

In the end, I even signed the mural, a nice personal touch and a sign of how much trust the client placed in me from the start. As an artist, that trust is the ultimate canvas.
