Design and Preparation
The project began with digital concepts, giving the client multiple playful options before settling on this duo of characters. Once approved, I prepared the doors by lightly sanding, applying a full primer, and laying down a non-UV base coat. This created the foundation for vibrant, lasting colour.
I then worked with layers of UV-reactive spray paint, using brands such as Montana, Molotow, and MTN 94 with different nibs for detail and control. The characters came to life in bold strokes and glowing tones. Finally, each door was sealed with a satin lacquer finish, ensuring durability in a busy restaurant setting. The result is a pair of statement doors that will look fresh for years to come.
From Mock-Up to Mural
Before any paint touched the doors, I created digital mock-ups to explore ideas and give the client a clear vision of how the characters might look. These mock-ups allowed us to play with colour palettes, props, and personality, ensuring the designs were fun, bold, and in line with the playful street-art theme of the restaurant.
While the final painted versions stay faithful to the digital concepts, they evolved through the physical process. Spray paint brought gradients, splatters, and textures that digital design simply cannot replicate, while UV layers introduced a hidden glow effect that only reveals itself under black light. This transformation from screen to surface adds authenticity and energy, turning clean vector lines into raw, living street art that engages guests the moment they enter.
Visual Impact
The characters were designed to be cheeky, fun, and unmistakably Thai pop art style. The female character is styled in a bright dress, holding a mobile phone, while the male character is a mischievous Yaaksha-style figure gripping a spray can with a rap-chain swinging from his neck.
In daylight, the colours read as bold and graphic, fitting seamlessly into the neon graffiti and pop art energy of the restaurant interior. Under black light, the doors transform, glowing with secret layers that only UV-reactive paints can reveal. Positioned beside the seating booths and entrance to the toilets, the doors act as mini murals that surprise and delight guests on their way through the venue.
Client Response
The client was thrilled with the outcome, commenting that the doors brought personality and humour into a functional space. Guests now stop to admire them, snap photos, and share their experience, the kind of memorable, Instagram-worthy detail every hospitality venue needs.
Style and Artistic Inspiration
This project fuses Thai cultural iconography with a playful pop art graffiti style. Inspired by street art characters, comic-book humour, and the energy of Bangkok nightlife, the designs keep the atmosphere vibrant without overwhelming the interior.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paints do you use for graffiti doors?
I use professional spray paints (brands like Molotow, Montana, MTN 94) combined with UV-reactive spray paints layers.
Are painted toilet doors durable in a busy venue?
Yes. With proper priming and a satin lacquer seal, they are resistant to wear, humidity, and frequent cleaning.
Do the characters only glow under black light?
No. They appear bold and colourful in daylight, then reveal hidden details and luminosity under UV light.
Can I commission similar work for my space?
Absolutely. I accept commissions worldwide and can adapt the characters and style to your venue, brand, or theme.
